Here Comes The Rain Again

Say what? You're tired of me talking about the Beatles?
Well, that's too bad since I just saw Rain which is a tribute to The Beatles at Pantages Theatre. I am happy to say that this show was really great, I really enjoyed the performances from this Fab Four who not only looked like the actual Beatles but their music was just as great as if you were watching The Beatles themselves perform their songs live.
I will admit that I was kind of comparing Rain with Love and there's just no comparison, they are two different beasts and two totally different venues and it's just not fair comparing such an expensive and intricated Vegas production as Cirque Du Soleil did with Love, besides the music in Rain is performed live which gave it a great angle which I wasn't expecting before I showed up.
It's a very basic, straightforward production about four very talented musicians who get together and play many Beatles pieces to perfection, I never thought I would hear Strawberry Fields Forever, or Let It Be and even A Day In The Life with such precision and still kind of different than hearing the recordings.
There was little intermissions where you would see these funny commercials, like the Winston cigarretes commercial featuring... The Flinstones!!! I was laughing my ass off and also other funny commercials from days gone by that was really hillarious.
There was a very moving sequence right before Sgt. Peppers started playing and the audience immediately identified with the message of peace and love after the scenes from the Vietnam War which featured the fabulous music of Jimmy Hendrix. I got the chills watching those scenes of war but at the same time became excited seeing the curtain come up to see the psychodelic customes from Sgt Peppers and later on hearing Imagine by John Lennon gave everyone a warmth feeling of joy and peace, it was really magical and contagious.
What I liked most about the show is that it wasn't pretentious and it was just about the music and what the Beatles fans wanted to hear, it was sort of like a revival for a whole new generation of Beatles fans. Like me, there were many other young people who just appreciate good music when they hear it, there was teenagers banging their hands and clapping to many of the songs. Just getting up on their seats and singing Hey Jude was an experience I've always wanted to experience, I fantazised with being in a Beatles concert and yelling:
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na... Hey Jude!!! (Repeat 100 times over!!)
